ABOUT THE EDTECH.
EdWard is a gamified reward system package that can increase student motivation and promote student engagement. The privileges provided by the cards are designed to be flexible so that teachers may implement this system in any classroom. A pack consists of 48 EdCoins and 27 cards (STC).
A card's rarity can be distinguished by its border color: yellow for common, blue for uncommon, and red for rare. Its rarity is determined by how many cards of its kind are in stock. The higher the rarity, the more valuable and scarce the reward is. Students may exchange their tokens for a chance to draw a random card from the deck.
GAME MECHANICS
Materials:
EdCoin: A currency that can be used to exchange for a chance to draw a card.
EdCard: Can be acquired through exchange of tokens. Each type of card provides a different privilege for the user.
EdCard and EdCoin case: Contains the user's tokens and cards.
Whiteboard: tracking of tokens and cards.
The class will be split into groups
Members in a group will share the EdCoins they get as well as the privilege of the cards they get.
Members of a group will have to discuss how they manage their EdCoins.
Each group can only have a maximum of 12 EdCoins at all times.
A group's excess EdCoins must be spent, forfeited, or be given to other groups before the period ends to avoid monopolizing the EdCoins.
Students will be given a chance to use three (3) EdCoins to draw a random card before the lesson starts, before an activity in the middle of a lesson (specified in the lesson plan), and by the end of the period.
The cards will be shuffled every day before the start of the period.
Students may only take a card from the top of the deck.
A separate whiteboard will be provided by the researchers for the tracking of the EdCoins and EdCards.
